Christmas Butter Cookies

Butter Cookies
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 15-20 minutes
Cook Time: 8-10 min per batch

Description
My mom makes these every year for Christmas. Good, fun shapes and colors, and thanks to her I have my own cookie gun now!

Ingredients
1 Cup Butter (2 Sticks)
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp Almond Extract
2 1/3 Cups Flour
Food Coloring

Directions
Cream/soften butter in a large bowl, but not til it is completely liquid. Gradually add the sugar and mix in. Beat in the egg and almond extract. Gradually add the flour and mix in. Divide into even portions and color – usually do yellow, red, green. It takes about 5-7 drops of food coloring for each. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. No need to make room for expansion – they don’t expand much at all. Roll into 1 inch balls and press or use cookie gun with shapes. Do not bake all the way until firm, as the cookies will continue to cook when taken out of oven.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies. Yum.
